Statement
Clark County’s Charter is our privilege and responsibility. It serves as the county’s bylaws and constitution, helping to define what the county can do and in some cases what it must do. My priorities on this nonpartisan commission will be public safety, mental health and budgetary restraint. Reforms of the charter may add more accountability in those areas. I will promote balanced solutions for efficiency in council operations, while guarding constitutional rights and respecting minority and majority viewpoints.
For the past 37 years, I have contributed to Clark County’s community activities supporting education, public safety, mental health, help for those in need, and the arts. I have consistently advocated for mental health services, hosting the Donnelly Walk for Mental Health, now in its 14th year, benefiting NAMI SW Washington. I represent the mental health community on the county’s Law and Justice Council. To address increasing crime, I co-founded Clark County Public Safety Alliance, and originated the Angels with Badges awards for heroic law enforcement. I am a citizen advocate for improving our county jail. My record of community service, professional experience, and balanced approach is why I am asking for voters’ support.
