Statement
As a dedicated Battle Ground resident, father, and former City Council member, I have consistently fought for responsible governance and fiscal accountability. I believe leadership should remain transparent and focused on serving the community, which is why I advocated for term limits to prevent political entrenchment. I have opposed excessive tax increases that unfairly burden residents. When the Fire District 3 annexation was proposed, I spoke out unsuccessfully against the plan to retain the city’s share of property taxes. The council ultimately decided on an approach that, in some cases, doubled property taxes for citizens. Protecting taxpayers remains a priority for me. I have consistently challenged the sharp increase in City Council compensation—rising from approximately $300 per month to nearly $3,000 per month over the past nine years. Public service should be rooted in dedication to the community, not financial gain. Establishing a salary commission to evaluate benefits annually only reinforces the trend of excessive spending. Battle Ground deserves leaders who are fiscally responsible, transparent, and focused on the needs of residents. I am committed to ensuring our local government remains accountable and prioritizes the well- being and prosperity of the people it serves.
