WAGOP Chairman’s Update: Voter ID Initiative‍

Chairman Jim Walsh delivers his weekly update from the Capitol in Olympia, announcing that the Washington State Republican Party's voter ID initiative (IL26-126), requiring proof of citizenship at voter registration, fell short of the 310,000 signatures needed for the legislature by today's deadline, despite gathering nearly 200,000. Walsh vows to refile the voter ID measure next week as a direct initiative to voters for November 2026, with a more centralized signature drive led by the reactivated political operations committee aiming to build on prior support by late June. This effort aligns state policy with federal reforms under President Trump to enforce election integrity laws and restore voter trust through incremental steps.

Statement from Washington State Republican Party Chairman Rep. Jim Walsh on WA Democrats' Responses to MN Childcare Center Fraud Scandal:

'While these 'childcare center' fraud allegations were initially concentrated in one state—Minnesota—subsequent allegations have involved the states of Maine, Ohio and Washington. This is why the FBI is setting up its investigation as a nationwide project.

"Here in Washington, some elected officials have reacted to this news inappropriately.‍ Read More

GOP chair seeks probe into subsidized child care facilities over fraud concerns

The Washington State Republican Party Chair, Jim Walsh, is urging a comprehensive review of taxpayer-subsidized child care facilities by the state attorney general and state auditor.

Walsh, who also serves in the state legislature, expressed concerns over potential fraud and misuse of funds after reviewing social media videos and other documentation.

"They need to do a better job of reporting this," Walsh said, emphasizing the role of the attorney general in protecting public interest.

He called for a thorough investigation into how grant money is allocated and spent, suggesting that current tax expenditures should be scrutinized before considering tax increases on working families. ‍

The Next Step in Washington’s Plan to Replace Parents‍

Washington State has spent decades building a homeless‑youth system that allows minors to enter shelters, host homes, and state‑run facilities without parental consent, without abuse, and without due process. SB 5935 is the next step in that system, dramatically expanding state authority while cutting parents out entirely.
