Chamber of origin policy cutoff

Chairman Jim Walsh explains the  "Chamber of origin policy cutoff," a deadline for bills to pass committee to remain viable. Key issues surviving the cutoff include overturning the parents' bill of rights, restricting the initiative process through stricter signature gathering rules, and introducing a per-mile tax on vehicles. Debates around these topics, as well as crime and school funding, are expected to dominate the remainder of the session.

I-2081 ‍Parental rights UNDER ATTACK

I-2081 was supported by nearly 450,000 citizens who wanted to strengthen and affirm parental rights in Washington. The initiative received broad, bipartisan support with nearly 90% of legislators voting in favor. Now, HB 1296 would gut key aspects of the initiative, including access to certain records, the right to access teaching materials, and immediate notification of crimes committed against their child.
