CCRP Press Release - Kathy McDonald - Clark County Republican Party

WHEREAS, the Clark County Republican Central Committee unanimously endorsed Joe Kent, the Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional District race, at the third quarterly business meeting on August 9th, 2022, and
WHEREAS, Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez was the Democrat opponent in the upcoming general election partisan race, and
WHEREAS, Kathy McDonald is the Republican precinct committee officer (PCO) for precinct 104, and
WHEREAS, Republican PCO Kathy McDonald cosponsored and publicly invited Republican guests to participate in a fundraiser, and vote for Democrat candidate Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez on October 15, 2022, and
WHEREAS, section 4.2.2 of the prior Clark County Republican Central Committee Bylaws, adopted on May 25th, 2021, states that,
“No active PCO or Officer may perform any of the following: Make a formal, public endorsement in a third-party publication for a candidate of a competing party when there exists an endorsed Republican candidate,” and,
WHEREAS, the prior Clark County Republican Central Committee called upon the incoming Clark County Republican Central Committee, that in lieu of Kathy McDonald’s resignation, the incoming Clark County Republican Central Committee, whose term commences December 1st, 2022, take disciplinary action against her for the egregious violation of the party’s code of conduct, and,
WHEREAS, Republican endorsed candidates, and Republican voters, have every proper expectation they will not be betrayed by Republican party leadership, and,
WHEREAS, the result of Republican PCO Kathy McDonald’s betrayal of her duty greatly contributed to the election loss for Joe Kent by less than 1%, and,
WHEREAS, it is consistent with section 5.2 of the Clark County Republican Central Committee Bylaws, adopted December 10, 2022, which state,
“Section 5.2 No PCO or Officer may perform any of the following:
5.2.1 Run, staff, or fundraise a political campaign or PAC for a competing political party.
5.2.2 Make a formal, public endorsement in a third-party publication for a candidate of a competing party when there exists an endorsed Republican candidate.”, be it therefore
RESOLVED, that the PCOs of the Clark County Republican Central Committee demand that Kathy McDonald resign her position as a PCO, effective immediately, for the remainder of her current term, and be it further
RESOLVED, that in lieu of PCO Kathy McDonald voluntarily offering her resignation, the PCOs of the Clark County Republican Central Committee hereby Censure PCO Kathy McDonald in keeping Clark County Republican Party bylaws, section 5.3.1, which states,
“5.3.1 By a two-thirds (2/3) vote of PCOs at a meeting of the CCRCC, and only by such a vote, a PCO or officer may be censured. The chair is restricted from granting the floor to a censured PCO. Censured PCOs otherwise maintain all rights and responsibilities that do not require obtaining the floor or voting, but will be counted to establish quorum.”, and be it further
RESOLVED, in an effort to restore the broken trust with Republican voters who have placed their faith in our party to recruit and help elect excellent candidates, the Clark County Republican Central Committee calls upon the Chairman to immediately issue a press release informing the public of this resolution.‍
