Mail filings accepted starting April 22nd through May 10th, however, they will be held and not processed until the beginning of candidate filing week.
2024 Precinct Committee Officer - Candidate Filing Information
During the 2024 candidate filing period, Declaration of Candidacy forms will be accepted for the 355 Democratic and 355 Republican Precinct Committee Officer positions for the Primary being held on August 6, 2024.
To file a declaration of candidacy with the County Auditor, you must declare membership of a major political party on your candidate filing form and you must be registered to vote in the precinct in which you file. Once elected in the Primary, the Precinct Committee Officer shall serve as long as they remain an eligible voter within the precinct (RCW 29A.80.041).
The term of office for Precinct Committee Officer is two years, commencing the first day of December following the Primary (RCW 29A.80.051)
The only time Precinct Committee Officer candidates will have their name printed on the Primary ballot will be when two or more candidates file in the same precinct for the same political party (RCW 29A.52.171).
If, after the last day to withdraw, only one candidate has filed for a party position, that candidate is deemed elected and a certificate of election will be issued (RCW 29A.52.171).

There is no special three day filing period held for precinct committee officer positions if no one files for that position (RCW 29A.80.031).
Last day to withdraw:Candidates may withdraw, in writing until 5 pm, Monday, May 13, 2024 (RCW 29A.24.131).
Filing Fee: There is no filing fee for Precinct Committee Officers (RCW 29A.24.091).
Public Disclosure Requirements: There are no reporting requirements for candidates filing for Precinct Committee Officer.
Voters’ Pamphlet: Precinct Committee Officer candidates will not be included in the local voters’ pamphlet.
