How to Talk Across the Political Divide”

“Let’s Depolarize America, one community at a time, by starting a conversation – not a fight.”

There's a lot of stress these days among family members and friends who are divided politically. Hyper-partisan political tribalism, with differences, real or perceived, exacerbated by a media that exploits discord, distrust, fear and hate is overwhelming all of us. Please join us for a Better Angels Skills Workshop to learn more effective communication skills that are designed to facilitate civil and constructive conversations. By actively seeking to achieve mutual understanding and mutual respect, problem-solving can actually occur. Abandon the idea of changing others’ minds or politics. You might even make new friends coming from diverse life experiences and perspectives. See how once perceived “enemies” can actually become friends. Come join us for an informative and energizing workshop.

We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory … will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

— Abraham Lincoln, 1861 – on the brink of civil war

Who can come? Anyone interested in having better conversations with people on the other side of the political aisle. Learn how to prevent, reduce and resolve conflict.
