State lawmakers from the 18th Legislative District will host an in-person town hall meeting on Saturday, March 28, in Battle Ground. With the 2026 session ending on Thursday, March 12, Rep. Stephanie McClintock and Rep. John Ley will meet with constituents to review the major events from the recently concluded session.

Among the issues they plan to discuss is the recent vote by the majority of Democrats to implement a state income tax. They will recap the 24-hour debate on the bill and answer constituents' questions about what comes next, including the possibility of the legislation being expanded in the future. Read More

Reps. Stephanie McClintock and John Ley denounce passage of state income tax after historic House floor battle‍

Following a marathon 24-hour floor debate that marked one of the longest legislative battles in recent memory, majority Democrats approved legislation creating a new state income tax, Senate Bill 6346. The controversial measure advanced despite unified Republican opposition and extensive efforts to amend the proposal.

Supporters say the policy targets high earners to generate new revenue, while critics warn it represents a sweeping change to Washington’s tax structure with significant legal and economic implications.

‍The City of Vancouver is now accepting applications for openings on 10 Boards and Commissions. The Mayor and City Council appoint individuals to 26 different committees, councils and commissions. Members of these bodies offer recommendations, provide advice and feedback on issues including land use, parking, parks and recreation, transportation, housing, and other issues facing Vancouver and the greater region.
