Please know, the postponement of the Jan 13th caucus was due to the cancelation of contracts (school closures) by 10 of 11 locations.  These cancelations were beyond our control.

2024 Legislative Session‍

The Washington state legislative session has begun. There are many resources to get more information. Some are included below:

Free HB-1143/I-1639 Firearms Safety Training Program‍

With passage of HB1143/I-1639, Washington residents are now REQUIRED to take a safety training class covering 8 specific topics before purchasing or transferring any firearm. This course is designed to address each of those 8 topics covered under the Revised Code of Washington (RCW9.41.090).

Jim Walsh & Let’s Go Washington turns in

over 2.6 Million Signatures for all 6 Initiatives

If enough signatures are verified, the initiatives will be presented to the state legislature. The legislature has the following options:

1-Adopt an Initiative to the Legislature, in which case the initiative is enacted into law without a vote of electors;
2-The legislature can reject or not act on the initiative, in which case the initiative is placed on the ballot at the next state general election;
3-The legislature can approve an alternative to the proposed initiative, in which case both the original proposal and the legislative alternative are placed on the ballot at the next state general election.

Board of Health seeks applicants for dentist position on
Public Health Advisory Council

‍The Public Health Advisory Council reviews priority public health needs and makes periodic recommendations to the Board of Health to enhance community health and wellbeing. The application deadline is 5 pm Wednesday, Jan. 31. Those interested in an appointment to the advisory council should submit a brief letter of interest and résumé to Michelle Pfenning, County Manager’s Office, PO Box 5000, Vancouver 98666-5000. Police Community Advisory Committee

‍Committee members advise the City Manager on issues relating to police services in the City of Vancouver. Members assist with identifying community safety needs, gaps in services and ways to improve policing and public safety.
