Clark County Republican County Convention Update

Due to current governmental directives and limitations on large gatherings related to the COVID-19 virus, the Washougal School District cancelled the contract with the Clark County Republican Party (CCRP) to hold its county convention on April 4, 2020. As a result, CCRP has developed alternative plans, specifically in two parts:

‍Part One

CCRP will elect delegates to the state convention via an online webinar, which will require the use of a smart phone or computer with Internet access. CCRP will cover the cost of this webinar, and also fully refund all convention registration fees submitted to date*. In order to facilitate this plan, CCRP requests the following actions from each current county convention delegate and alternate:

1. Register with your current email address with the CCRP. Notify CCRP as soon as possible if you want to be a delegate to the state convention (now expected to occur on June 25-27, 2020, in Everett, WA).

If you have already registered you do not need to register again, otherwise, complete the registration form here

2. Record up to a 60 second video, so that others know for whom they are voting. State your name, your Legislative District number, and why you want to be elected as a delegate to the state convention.

3. Upload your brief video to, and then copy and email the url link to no later than Saturday, March 28, 2020.  If you do not want to use YouTube, then an alternative option is to write a short paragraph with the same information. Please Register here to be included you can also email the information to  .

Should CCRP have fewer delegate candidates than positions, voting by acclamation and by legislative district will occur. If CCRP has more delegate candidates than positions, then the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) has developed a voting website that requires an email link and pin to use. The voting is still by secret ballot, and the results are fully auditable to ensure accuracy. Instructions will be provided if CCRP needs to use this method. Results will be posted on the CCRP website,

‍Part Two

After delegates and alternates to the state convention are formally elected, CCRP will adjourn the county convention until a further time [date and location TBD]. That time will be when it is deemed safe to resume larger gatherings. All elected delegates and alternates will be invited to join the county convention in person at that time to discuss and pass its platform. The 2020 platform and resolution debate and passage will be announced as soon as possible.

In the future when the date, location and costs for the county convention are finalized, the registration will again be opened for Part Two of the county convention, including the cost per person.

Thank you for your willingness to be flexible during this challenging and unprecedented time. CCRP’s goal is to reflect the will of the Republican delegates and alternates in electing the best representatives to the state convention.

Who knows what will happen between here and there? I, for one, hope that the best possible delegates and alternates are sent to the national convention.
